Fluid lines and playful distortions give this standing figure a carefree attitude, which Brill likes to bring out of his life size, as well as his smaller sculptures. Standing on a low polished granite base, the animated figure retains the immediacy and spontaneity of the small studies Brill executes quickly in clay to capture a compelling attitude. The enlarged thumbprints create flowing movement on the surface of the sculpture, reminiscent of knife-applied impasto in some expressionist paintings. The matte patina, which will continue to evolve if placed outdoors, has rich undertones of red, purple and green.
