This larger-than-life seated figure with great presence was pulled straight from the kiln for installation at A New Leaf Gallery’s Focus on the Figure show. As Lyons’ work matures, the deep texturing obtained from layering engobes and natural earth pigments is emphasized and it creates a skin for the form, the window that allows 'the interior to become visible, to look at the interface between what is tangible and that which we know is there but cannot physically touch.'
