"I created this piece for the opening of an Albert Frey restoration at the Salton Sea, where the extinction of the pelican is imminent", says Burton. "The piece represents the symbiosis necessary between man and nature for the species to survive.

She is perched on a welded steel piling and has an incredibly beautiful textured sage glaze, with a flat steel glaze on the beak, which emulates the steel of stand."
