Unique in a series

New York artist Rebecca Welz's sculptural "Scribble Table" side table is made of steel rods that are bent, twisted, and welded into an artful tangle, or "scribble." Welz has described her welded steel sculptures as "large, kinetic drawings in space," and the two works in her "Scribble Table" series are her first furniture pieces to be made in this style. The unfinished steel base seems to be a large, organic, graphite line drawing transformed into 3D, with a circular glass tabletop resting on top. The dynamic movement of the twisting steel is reflected in the intricate shadows cast on the floor or walls, adding another dimension to the work.
