This carved Indiana limestone Stone Skep depicts an English woven straw beehive used for housing wild bees and gathering honey before the advent of wooden hives. The hole pattern, drilled through the stone front to back, is in the pattern of the Pleiades; the Chinese interpretation of this constellation is thought of as a swarm of bees. The artist has shown Stone Skep with a now sold bench as a companion piece. She would be interested in creating a new companion bench, should you be interested.
