"The effects from fire, whether accidental, arson, or by natural causes can be devastating for our natural environment. Loss can be experienced both emotionally as well as financially", says Dunton.
"I tried to convey through heavily textured wood with the use of a chain saw this havoc, along with the inclusion of silver leaf and acrylics showing that there is promise of new life and continuity through this piece that was Left Standing."

Based in the San Francisco Bay Area, Dunton's work is often influenced by images and colors found in folk art. Bold, contrasting patterns of African robes, intricate shapes in rugs from Turkey and Afghanistan, rich fabrics, hand dyed and woven on back-strap looms are all sources for inspiration.
