"The piece started out as a comment on world warfare, but has become more about the prevalence of children and guns in our own society", says Thrall. "The work deals with the simple universal themes of life, death, and the human condition. The concentration is on the two opposite forces created by man: 1) a newborn life made with love with another human being, and 2) mechanisms made for a sole purpose – to destroy and kill a person. Each day I see or hear how innocent children are cheated in some way by a world full of weapons and those who act irresponsibly. My sculptures contain strong images as symbols and are constructed to create an interpretation of this reality."

Leitha Thrall has shown extensively throughout the US for over 30 years and her work can be found in collections in California, Nevada, Kansas, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania and France.
