This sculpture has a very interesting story: André showed a pair of public sculptures in 2018 called Bâtisseurs de Cathédrales in the City of Evreux, in the Normandie region of France (see first alternate photo below). Bâtisseur de Cathédrales II, an aluminum cast, was purchased by the City of Evreux. In 2019, Evreux commissioned André to create 20 small casts to gift contributors to the local economy. Since the artist worked directly at the full scale, he had no maquette, so he made a 3D scan of the 7 foot tall sculpture and reduced it to create what can be dubbed a reverse maquette of the work! The artist is now offering an edition of 10 at a very attractive price.
