The bronze bust is 2" x 1" x 1.25" and the wood base is a 1.25" cube. Many of Bornstein's sculptures have starting points as sketches of people she sees in the city (she lives in Brooklyn), but this one was different: "The sculpture is a portrait of a fellow passenger on the subway some years ago", says the artist. "I did not know her, did not make a sketch, but recalled her later. I admired the young woman who seemed so serious, self possessed, and determined."
