Cardboard and rolled magazine paper with necklace. This is the second in a series of works begun during the early days of the Covid 19 epidemic in New Jersey.
"As coronavirus hit, life changed", says Schwartz. "Time seemed to vanish, no longer quantifiable. Materials I was accustomed to working with were hard to find. Quiet brought a heighten awareness of what was around me. Ordering by mail exploded. I would see heaps of cardboard tumbling out of garbage cans. Stacks of magazines piled high beside them. A WSJ fashion magazine caught my eye. A small inner voice asked, “What can I do with this”? ...Intrigued for years by the forms found in high fashion, I thought now is the time to explore this. This gift of magazines and cardboard would become my new materials."
