Peace Gorilla extends her arm in a non-verbal greeting across the species divide, as if to say, “Hello, peace, friend.”
In her current location, across from the United Nations in Dag Hammarskjold Plaza in New York City, the sculpture promotes peace between humans. Cast into the concrete base are the words for friend in 90 languages, beginning with the six official languages of the UN.
The sculpture welcomes touch and a “hi-five” palm to palm or at a distance and even offers a friendly, sturdy perch to those so inclined. Perfect for a public sculpture!
Peace Gorilla is an edition of six. The artist imagines one on each continent. The piece was cast using the traditional French sand-casting method, where no rubber mold is needed.
Pricing is for the bronze sculpture only. Base as pictured is 8” x 48” x 48”. Please inquire regarding pricing for the base as shown with all the inscribed words. Requests for alternative bases are welcome as well.
