PEDESTAL SCULPTURE bronze
9 x 10 x 6.5 in
23 x 25 x 18 cm

Edition: AP

This seated figure on its bronze pedestal is shown here in two different patinas. Please note that the existing patina on the available piece is the alternate image (gray-green with just a touch of warm brown on the head and feet). We notice the sculpture's relaxed pose and gestural qualities.

Brill begins each piece by making a quick drawing as his model sits, stands, or lies down in a relaxed, natural pose. He aims to retain the immediacy of these sketches as he renders them in three dimensions in clay, leaving impressions from his fingers and tools as he sculpts the forms. The clay figures are then cast in bronze using the lost-wax process, but the impressions from the original clay are still evident in the finished bronze.
