"As the chief curator at the gallery, I want to select works that I not only deem sellable, but that continue to excite me. I am often asked how I pick the sculptures we show. There is no easy answer because there are all the physical criteria that have to be filled, but there also needs to be a 'coup de coeur' for me: an emotional entanglement with the work, and this includes both an immediate aesthetic reaction and an intellectual connection. I particularly enjoy sculptures that surprise me when viewed from various angles. When I am asked which are my favorites, this is harder still to answer because all the sculptures have had to move me already to have been selected, but I would have to say, seeing them every day in the gallery, the ones I know I will be the saddest to see go to a good home when they sell are probably my favorites. This is not a complete list by any means, but I encourage you to try me on any of these exceptional pieces!"

"Sometimes I am attracted to a piece purely for aesthetic reasons, and I examine every detail, imagining exactly how it would look in my home. At other times, I feel such an emotional connection to a sculpture that I can’t stop thinking about it – sometimes for months or even years after it leaves the gallery! When that happens, I don’t think about exactly how it would look in my home, but how it would make me feel when I saw it each day. I imagine introducing it to family and friends, watching and listening to their reactions to see how they compare with my own feelings. One of my favorite things about working at Sculpturesite is when our visitors and collectors also share with me what they see in different works, or why they connect to a specific piece. Of course, it is even better when I later get to see these sculptures installed in their new homes! It can be difficult to say goodbye to works I’ve grown particularly attached to, but seeing just how perfect each one has been for the collectors who chose them makes it much easier to let them go. Several of the works I selected below are those I have been imagining in my own home (but am happy to help you place in yours!), and all are among those I feel will be difficult to part with when the time comes."
