LAWRENCE LABIANCA: the sound of the trees
August 19 - October 21, 2006
Sculpturesite Gallery is pleased to present twelve recent works, ranging from twelve inches to twenty-five feet, by mixed media Bay Area sculptor Lawrence LaBianca. "LaBianca presses us to search for and embrace unspoken knowledge that only deep observation and keen listening can reveal," says Jeff Nathanson, Princeton's Arts Council Director. This solo exhibition presents a site-specific work in redwood and steel extending through the 12' tall gallery window into Convention Plaza, as well as large-scale wood and steel constructions, wall hung "tools" for "seeing" or "discovering", a neon illuminated abstract tree form in black walnut, steel birch trees tensioned with wire and stone, a cast glass topped "table" lit from inside and more.
