After finding a bag of recycled plastic six-pack holders she had collected in her studio, Bay Area artist Jane Woolverton decided either to use them or to clean out the clutter. She began experimenting with various ways to assemble and finish them and what emerged was a plastic fiber tapestry of atmospheric weightlessness.

Woolverton’s goal is a transformation that allows the material properties of the work to transcend the industrially defined function. She either creates highly graphic images, using white and black plus red, or brightly colored patterns that subtly riff through three layers. All cast extraordinary shadows.
