CARY WEIGAND and PETER SCHIFRIN - New Works

September 15 - October 13, 2011

This exhibition showcases the way two sculptors explore narratives in figurative sculpture in two very different ways. Cary Weigand uses porcelain and bright coloring to draw the viewer into her universe of phantasmagoric story-telling. In her personal philosophy, mythical animals and humans share the responsibility for the safekeeping of the earth.

Peter Schifrin, whose technique employs wax cast in bronze, is concerned with communicating deep human emotions through reduction of form. His figures are expressive, yet not realistic, and the geometry of the planes of wax he juxtaposes with the figures reveals his process, while adding a sense of motion and spontaneity.

Please note that all of Ms. Weigand’s works in this exhibition have now sold.
