Nautilus
WALL SCULPTURE mixed media
Separate rectangular shaped, interlocking structures in Plexiglas are sanded and re-sanded with steel wool and sand paper, then colored with oil paint. Fixed in its malleability, Nautilus echoes a stage of self-gestation, hinting at an inward curve of hiding or conversely, an outward curve of emergence. It is at this threshold that the insect-like form holds, still, but playing with the character of light and permeability.
