Mikoshi gently swirls and swivels on its base to alternate between creating whole and split circles in space. Occasionally and momentarily, all elements come together to create the Taoist yin/yang symbol, representing the concept of the inter-connected, inter-dependent nature of opposing forces in the natural world, each giving rise to the other in turn.
