The work of Sculpturesite artists Hans Van de Bovenkamp and William Wareham can currently be seen in the 35-acre sculpture park Grounds For Sculpture in Hamilton, NJ.
A beautifully landscaped setting, the park houses an impressive collection of over 230 sculptures ranging in size from smaller scale to monumental. The organization's mission is to promote an understanding of and appreciation for contemporary sculpture by organizing exhibitions, publishing catalogues, and offering a variety of educational programs and special community events.
Hans Van de Bovenkamp's "Sagg Portal" and "Cock-a-doodle-doo," both of which are part of the artist's Menhir series, convey a sense of sacredness and spirituality and possess their own internal energy. Both of the works reference the artist's personal life, as "Sagg Portal" is inspired by the history of his home town and nearby regions, while "Cock-a-doodle-doo" is a whimsical dedication to his pet rooster.
Located in the newer portion of the sculpture park, William Wareham's "Annoweeka" is a brightly painted geometrical abstract sculpture that explores the relationship between a two-dimensional shape, the circle, and a three-dimensional form, the segments of a sphere
